Aurora Christmas Ornaments Shaker - CTC004

Welcome again to KOCreationscards

I am participating in this weeks CASE challenge, hosted by Jessie Holton #CTC004

This week we are CASEing this card of Andrea's

I wanted something a bit different and after a friend recently made a gorgeous Aurora card (click here to see Juana's card) I thought I might try a version of my own.

After thinking a bit about how I could do an Aurora effect and make it different + make it mine. I remembered my Delicate Ornament thinlit dies ...(they match the Embellished Ornaments stamp set). Ideas started racing!

So with out further ado

Aurora Christmas Shaker Ornaments

#KOCreationscards #Delicateornamentthinlits #Handmade #Christmastime #Stampinup #Minipinecones #Thoughtfulbranches

How I made Aurora Christmas Shaker Card:

  • You will need thick Whisper White card base cut to 10.5 x 15 cm. Then trim your Night of Navy and Pool Party according to how much edge you would like showing.
  • I then chose my colours that I wanted in my Aurora.../Watermelon Wonder, Bermuda Bay, Sweet Sugarplum and Crushed Curry. I used Night of Navy for the Night sky.

Aurora technique:

  1. On a piece of Whisper White card stock I traced around the outside of my ornaments, just so I had a rough idea of where to add the colour.
  2. I started with the Crushed Curry and moving in one direction across the page from left to right and upwards I slowly built my colours until I was happy.
  3. I tore a small piece of paper and placed that across the bottom third of the ornament area and started with the night of navy. I applied this until I couldn't see any white what-so-ever!
  4. I then started blending the Night Of Navy in a down wards motion (opposite to the bright colours) gently adding some darkness into the colours.
  5. I also did this but in an upwards motion once or twice from the horizon, then around all other edges always starting from the outside moving in.
  6. When I was happy, I touched up a couple of areas to brighten the colours. I then die cut them out using my Big Shot.
  7. When the ink was dry, I stamped some skeletal trees from the Thoughtful Branches stamp set. I used a small mask to achieve the staggered effect.
  8. I then applied some versamark in with the tips of a stiff paint brush and then tipped White embossing powder onto the areas I wanted there to be snow. Using the paint brush you can also remove powder from areas where it is a bit too thick
  9. I fussy cut the indent from the blended Aurora die cuts and used this for the ornament edging. Do you know what I mean??? The dent that the dies leaves on your paper, around the outside edges.
  10. I cut some Confetti stars using the Diamond Glimmer paper and glued a few where I desired them onto the sky area.

The Front of the card:

  • For the card fronts I used Pool Party, cut to size I then used the Softly falling embossing folder.
  • I rubbed my embossing buddy over the embossed card and then gently applied the Versamark ink straight from the pad.
  • I added the White emboss powder, sharply tapping the back of the card with my finger nail to remove excess powder. Then heated with my heat tool until done.
  • I die cut the ornaments shapes, where I wanted them to be on the Pool Party card fronts.
  • I also cut a small piece of Window sheet just big enough to cover the hole and glued into place under the card front.
  • Once everything was dry, I lined everything up and glued the ink blended Aurora image straight onto the Night of Navy card stock.
  • I then used the foam adhesive strips to edge the ornaments on the Night of Navy. Then adding more strips in the other spaces, to the back of the Pool Party card front. This makes the card sit flat and even.
  • Dust edges with the embossing buddy and brush excess out.
  • Insert either stars or glitter....which ever you desire :) I used both. Stars for one and Glitter for the other.

Inside View 1

#KOCreationscards #Delicateornamentthinlits #Handmade #Christmastime #Stampinup #Minipinecones #Thoughtfulbranches

How I made the inside:

  • Using a reasonably large piece of scrap card stock cut two masks using the Delicate ornaments thinlit dies.
  • Place this in the area you want to have your ornament. Then proceed as for the front ornaments using steps 1-7.

Crazy Crafters Blog Hop - Special Guest Paula Dobson - 'Love Hope & Sunshine'

Welcome Everyone

Today I am joining my fave group 'The Crazy Crafters' for a Blog Hop with Paula Dobson, organised by Kylie Bertucci.

Strolling through Paula's blog for the hop, well it was just, mind blowing!
I came across some truly gorgeous creations.
BUT
I was looking for something special to CASE,
and also something I hadn't tried before.

I found both, in the card below.

 Paula Dobson

Isn't it just divine!

I am not really sure what the technique Paula used is actually called, but Paula used a word 'Smooshing' and if it wasn't a word before, it is now Paula! haha.

So I have called this technique 'Watercolour Smooshing' hehehe

I had a bit of a play for an afternoon and came up with this version, using the same format as Paula, just different stamps.

'SUNSHINE WISHES'

#KOCreationscards #Fallingflowersbundle #Sunshinesayings #Sunshinewishes #Pictureperfect #Stampinup #Handmade #Watercolour

Using resist embossing for the images, a technique where you stamp your image with versa mark then add the embossing powder and heat, all before applying any coloured ink.
After having a quick read as for what to do to for the technique, I made a start.

I made my window sheet just slightly larger than the card front & played. Assembled the ink colours I wanted and my spritzer  + a few baby wipes (I always end up with ink in places it shouldn't get)
I first tried applying the ink colours separately.  That worked OK sooo I then tried it again doing them all together. Both ways worked well.
'Smooshing' the window sheet around and bouncing it too!
I was loving the effect!

I loved it so much I tried another.

#KOCreationscards #Fallingflowersbundle #Sunshinesayings #Sunshinewishes #Pictureperfect #Stampinup #Handmade #Watercolour

And another!

But this time with a twist

#KOCreationscards #Fallingflowersbundle #Sunshinesayings #Sunshinewishes #Pictureperfect #Stampinup #Handmade #Watercolour

And one last one! LOL

Just to use up the card that I had cut my words from for the first two cards :)

#KOCreationscards #Fallingflowersbundle #Sunshinesayings #Sunshinewishes #Pictureperfect #Stampinup #Handmade #Watercolour

Here is a picture of them all together.

#KOCreationscards #Fallingflowersbundle #Sunshinesayings #Sunshinewishes #Pictureperfect #Stampinup #Handmade #Watercolour

Another showing the inside of one.

It's my thing following a theme through to the inside.

Nearly there, I promise :)

And the last pic shows the inside of the Black 'LOVE, HOPE and Hugs' card.

OK!

NOW
I have a little treat for you.

I made a tutorial about the water colouring technique I used for these cards.
I am still relatively new to these videos (only my second one to date) So forgive any newbie errors.

OK! I have finished lol

But I hope you haven't finished,
 not quite anyway.

The joy's of Creating :-) - This Christmas - #CTC003

The Joy's of Creating

This Christmas

CASEing Juana Ambida's card

Have you ever made a card & had absolutely NO PLAN of just how or what you were going to do to pull it off!
OR
Have you ever lost something in your creative space!

Sometimes creating with out a plan works a treat & everything just flows, when that happens 'Ooooh' the feeling is so very wonderful :-)

BUT

When I am looking at Juan's card, the card that I am to CASE my mind just goes BLANK.
I don't have this set or that set, nor that DSP paper hahaha & to top it off I can't find my Pretty Pine thinlits!
I only saw it yesterday gosh darn it!
I remember sitting it on top of something, hmmm!?!

OK time to put my BIG GIRL PANTS ON!

This Christmas

#Handmade #KOCreationscards #Thischristmas #Prettypinesbundle #Flurryofwishes #Australianmade #Stampinup

I grabbed every Christmas set I had.....then put them all back lol.
Gosh what is wrong with me...I am, distracted....
I only needed to pull just 1 or 2 elements from Juana's card to CASE it with.
Get a grip woman!
Ok what does it have....A piece of string....Loads of Christmas sentiments, patterned DSP Paper, Contrasting top & pretty pines die cuts using THINLITS...
Aaaaargh THINLITS

Well that just darn well reminds me all over AGAIN
! WHERE is THAT thinlits set of mine!

Sooooooo I end up pulling my craft room apart.......this is instead of what I am supposed to be doing.
Ah ha! Eureka! I found some die cuts I had previously cut from the set....BUT STILL NO THINLITS....
much
SADNESS

Front View

#Handmade #KOCreationscards #Thischristmas #Prettypinesbundle #Flurryofwishes #Australianmade #Stampinup

Still I have the Pine Bough embossing folder & the stamp set!
It WILL turn up....
I try to console myself....
sniff :'(

Ok back to creating....Grabbing the gorgeous 'This Christmas' DSP.. I found an idea had started to bloom in my head.
I reached for my Pine Bough embossing Folder & a Window Sheet.

Oh My
I loved the effect!!!

The idea was in full flower now!

I grabbed those die cuts I had found earlier (during the demolishing search of my room) & heat embossed them in silver.
I cut and folded some Very Vanilla card stock for my base....Looking at the DSP I had chosen I grabbed some Garden Green & some Black card stock also.
I started layering them all.
Embossed Window Sheet attached with Tear & Tape & a spot of glue along the top only under the gathered Music sheet, reverse side of the main DSP. Then onto the main DSP, straight onto Black, then onto Garden Green with dimesnionals & then straight onto Very Vanilla.
Hmmmm needed something
Black twine and a silver embellishment!....nope something else......Snow flakes!
Flurry of wishes makes an appearance.
I heat embossed the littlest flakes onto black card stock and punched them out.

Okay I think I am happy with it now..

Inside View

#Handmade #KOCreationscards #Thischristmas #Prettypinesbundle #Flurryofwishes #Australianmade #Stampinup

Oops forgot something!
Must have rhinestones to finish the snow flakes :-)
& I never forget to carry the theme to the inside of the card!

Aaaaaah
Perfect!

AND
No I still haven't found my Pretty Pines Thinlit dies !

:'(

Congratulations: Stained Glass Effect entered #GDP053

Welcome once again to my blog

Today's card was created with a wedding in mind.

I used the colour scheme from this weeks GDP Challenge (pic below) ....
Colour challenges really make me think & pushes me to use the colours that I normally wouldn't contemplate.
I have seen the 'Stained Glass Window' or 'Lead Light' effect done many different ways over the years, but had yet to give it a go myself, until today.

 #GDP053

Here is my card

CONGRATULATIONS

#Fallingflowersbundle #Leadlighteffect #Heatembossing #KOCreationscards #Blending #Handmade #Wedding #Engagement #Promotion

How I made Congratulations:

  • Cut a Night Of Navy card stock to 15  x 21.6 cm, score and fold to make 15 x 10.8 cm
  • Cut 1 Night of Navy to 10 x 14 cm
  • Cut 2 pieces Whisper White to 10.3 x 14.8 cm
  • Cut 1 gold foil piece to 9.9 x 14.4 cm
  • Cut a piece of the striped embossed DSP from the Irresistibly Floral collection on the diagonal to 9.4 x 13.8 cm

For the front:

  • Colour the flowers, buds & leaves using Watermelon Wonder. I coloured mine from behind then also added some more colour to the front for added depth.
  • Using the Striped DSP, a Stampin' Sponge and Night of Navy ink pad begin blending from one end working the colour, fading gently to almost white at the other end.
  • Using a tissue wipe the stripes clean back to white.
  • Arrange your flowers, buds & leaves in the bottom corner that is the lightest colour.
  • Find a sentiment you like. I used the 'Congratulations' from the 'Floral Phrases' stamp set.
  • Stamp this in VersaMark following the same steps as below for the flower embossing excluding step 1 & 6

Stained Glass Flower Arrangement:

  1. Using a scrap piece of vellum dust with your embossing buddy.
  2. Stamp image .... 2 flowers, 2 buds & 1 x leaves using VersaMark ink.
  3. Then dust the images with Gold Stampin' Emboss powder.
  4. Gently tap the back of the vellum with your fingernail to rid of excess powder.
  5. Heat with your heat tool, until all has melted and smooth.
  6. Cut out with the corresponding die cuts.
  • When colouring the flowers I started on the reverse side and then moved to the front to add depth to areas that needed it.
#Fallingflowersbundle #Leadlighteffect #Heatembossing #KOCreationscards #Blending #Handmade #Wedding #Engagement #Promotion

I used Tear & Tape adhesive to adhere the striped DSP to the gold foil.
I then used Stampin' Dimensionals to attach the gold foil to the Night of Navy card stock & used dimensionals again for the Night of Navy to the Whisper White card stock.
I adhered all of this to the card base with Tear & Tape.
For the inside I used the same stamps for the front on a piece of Whisper White and heat embossed in Gold Stampin' Emboss powder.

Star of Light Starburst Tutorial

Welcome Back

I had many requests for instructions on how to make the starburst effect for my Christmas Spirit card.

When I made Christmas Spirit it was all trials & errors. Loads of time taken up with mistakes, as is the way when you are trying something new.

I didn't write instructions for the card with my first blog because of all my mistakes, I simply ran out of time.

So I decided to try a video tutorial.
I had a spare day yesterday to fiddle around,as my middle child was home ill.

#Staroflight #Masking #Blending #KOCreationscards #Handmade #Tutorial

Star Of Light Starburst Tutorial

Being my first tutorial I hope my efforts weren't to clumsy and you got the general idea of how to make this card.

Please forgive me if I talk to myself and I think I did mumble a bit too!

Card stock used + measurements:

  • 2 by A4 Night of Navy
1 cut at 20.5 cm x 21 cm then scored & folded to be 20.5 x 10.5 for the base
    1 piece 19.3 x 9.3 cm (front of card)
another 19.5 x 9.3 cm (inside of card)
  • 2 A4 of thick Whisper White
    1 cut at 19 x 9 cm

Crazy Crafters Blog Hop CASEing Sarah Berry

WELCOME

Today we the 'Crazy Crafters' team are CASEing the lovely Sarah Berry
You may have heard of her challenge Strawberry Sketches!?!

I chose Sarah's Voucher card & also one of her cards created for a sketch challenge.

Here are my chosen cards to CASE

I went for a Christmas theme for my first card & chose Night of  Navy blended with Soft Sky. The card stock used is Night of Navy with Whisper White, layered on top of each other to frame my image. I used the Dazzling Diamond glimmer paper for the top of my star with Silver Foil underneath.

'Christmas Spirit'

#Staroflight #Starburst #Christmastrinkets #KOCreationscards #Handmade

Instead of a voucher I used this as a normal card. I stamped the inside with the star swirls from the Star of Light stamp set

#Staroflight #Starburst #Christmastrinkets #KOCreationscards #Handmade

My swirl wouldn't stamp correctly (missing the middle) & as it was too late to change my idea I adapted my images. I covered the missing piece with my star on the front & inside I stamped through the missing area then added a smaller star to keep my theme throughout my card.

How the following card came about was because I had leftover flourish pieces from my Razzleberry Flourish card made for previous challenge. When I was searching through Sarah's cards, I found her card above & thought that it would be a perfect way to use my left over bits.

So, here it is.

'HELLO'

#Flourishingphrases #Inkblending #Richrazzleberry #KOCreationscards #Handmade

I used the same colours as my Razzleberry Flourishes card as they were the colours of my left over pieces lol :-)

Razzleberry Flourishes

      Razzleberry Flourishes

Twice as much bang for your buck hehehe

A colour challenge by Michelle Quinno over at Pals Paper Arts

&

a CASETHISCARD challenge over at www.jessieholton.com

#PPA317                                          #CTC002

                                                      Kim Oliver CTC001 Winning Card

Last week I was chosen as the winner of  Jessie's very first Blog challenge #CTC001!
This mean't that this week, I had to CASE my own card if I was going to enter again!

I didn't think that CASEing my own creation was going to be quite so difficult!

I wanted to use the blending technique (I am in love with blending atm)  & use the acetate window sheet BUT still make something that looked totally different!

So, I looked for a colour scheme that was bright, fun, on trend & out there.
While I was pondering I received an e-mail notification from the team at PPA. It was letting me know about their latest challenge for this week.

A colour challenge

& WOW

WAS IT GORGEOUS!

Rich Razzleberry - Crushed Curry - Tangerine Tango

So, I think I succeeded in making something beautiful and totally different from my first design while still using some of my original ideas from Irresistibly Floral :-)

Here is my card

RAZZLEBERRY FLOURISHES

I have added this card to Kylie Berucci's Weekly Team Project Highlights here is the link for Voting Opens Friday evening 16/9/16

#Razzleberryflourishes #KOCreationscards #Handmade #Flourishingphrases #Flourishthinlits #CTC002 #PPA317 #StampinUp

I am going to add a quick set if instructions only as I am hoping to add a video to this blog later today!

How I made Razzleberry Flourishes :

  • Cut 2 thick Whisper White card bases at 15 cm x 10.5 cm.
  • Cut a sheet of Acetate to 18 cm x 10.5 cm. Fold and score this with your bone scorer at 15 cm. This will leave a 3 cm fold to attach to the inside of your card base.
  • Trim 3.7 cm from the front right side of both sheets of the white card bases.
  • Put Tear & Tape Adhesive and a small amount of glue from the fine tip glue bottle on to the back of the 3 cm flap of the acetate and attach to the inside of one of the card bases.
  • Now you will have the front of the white cards stock to attach to the acetate. Do this by adhering with Tear & Tape and the same glue. Press firmly together lining up as best as possible and if necessary trim any sides that are not exactly lined up.
  • Okay now you can attach the second card base to the inside of the first card base. This covers all unsightly tape & glue on the acetate window.
  • Cut 2 pieces of Rich Razzleberry card stock 1 @ 6 cm x 14.5 cm adhere this with Stampin' Dimensionals to the front white pane. Cut the second piece @ 10 cm x 14 cm & adhere this with Tear & Tape to the inside of the card.

#Razzleberryflourishes #KOCreationscards #Handmade #Flourishingphrases #Flourishthinlits #CTC002 #PPA317 #StampinUp

  • Righto now we are ready for the gorgeous striped white on white embossed DSP from the 'Irresistibly Floral' series that will be ink blended as per the photo's
  • Cut a corner off this DSP on the diagonal so that the stripes are also running diagonally. (I couldn't remember that word 'diagonally' in the video lol nor the name of  the Stampin' Trimmer)
  • Now cut a wider strip trying to keep running parallel to your first cut, then trim this down to 14 cm x 5.7 cm.
  • Also cut a piece of whisper white card stock to 9.5 cm x 13.5 cm to place over the Rich Razzleberry card inside. This will also be blended with those gorgeous colours
  • Blend according to my instructions on my 'Irresistibly Floral' blog page using the above colours.
  • Once all ink blended to your satisfaction adhere the front panel with Stampin' Dimensional. and inside with Tear & Tape.
  • Cut 2 flourishes, 1 large & 1 small...in Rich Razzleberry..... I fell in love with the smallest flourish on a sweet card made by Kylie Bertucci (click her name to see the card)
  • Attach the large flourish to the front of your card using the fine-tip glue in which ever position you like best :-)
  • I placed the smallest flourish on the inside panel but so you could still see it through the acetate window panel.
  • I added Rhinestone basic jewels to the little circle on the flourishes.
  • For the sentiment I used my Embossing Buddy, Versa Mark ink, White Stampin' Emboss Powder and the 'Just a Note' from the Flourishing Phrases stamp set. All set with my heat tool onto a piece of Rich Razzleberry. This was trimmed and ribbonised then placed in the top left corner of the card.
  • To finish it all off I tied a piece of thick white bakers twine under & over the striped and blended panel.

(Hopefully in this spot, there will be a video soon)

#Swirlybirds #Swirlyscribbles #Sunshinewishes #KOCreationcards #Flourishthinlits #Handmade #Love #StampinUp

How I Made Swirly Bird Love :

  • I Cut the base card thick Whisper White to 15 cm x 15 cm
  • I also cut a acetate window sheet to 15 cm x 18 cm. I folded this on the 15 cm mark leaving a 3 cm flap at the back
  • I cut the front panel from the thick whisper white at 7.5 using the wavy lines thinlits from the Swirly Scribbles set. I trimmed it to the fold leaving the bottom half intact as shown above.
  • So the top of the acetate and the card base lined up I used a marker I&lined up where I wanted the long scribbles thinlits to sit. I then ran them through the bigshot .
  • Once both the acetate and the base were cut I lined them up and stuck them together by adding Tear & Tape to the 3 cm flap of the acetate. I had to trim the top of the 3 cm flap down by hand to fit snugly.
  • I cut a piece of Crumb Cake card stock 14 cm wide and then marked the top at 14 cm high. I used the swirly scribbles thinlit to match the top of the card base.
  • I used all of the swirly stamps to make rose shapes all over a piece of  Sugar Plum card stock. I used Blushing Bride, Sweet Sugarplum & Whisper White ink pads for this, layering the colours for effect.
  • I also stamped a few roses onto whisper white card stock.
  • I then cut the stamped Sweet Sugarplum to measure 13 cm wide and marked it at 13 cm high. I placed the wavy thinlits there at the mark and ran through the big shot.
  • I layered these onto the back of the card, as you can see in the picture below.
  • Using the same technique of measuring and trimming to size I cut two layers for the middle of the card as seen above.
  • I only needed one layer to add to the front and that was the Crumb Cake on top of the existing white card base.

#Swirlybirds #Swirlyscribbles #Sunshinewishes #KOCreationcards #Flourishthinlits #Handmade #Love #StampinUp
  • I then cut two strips if the wavy scribbles in Crumb Cake & Sugar Plum.
  • After adhering these strips to the front and the middle using my snail adhesive I cut my stamped roses using the scribbles rose and placing the middle of that over the stamped image.
( I do wish I had a stand to make a video to show you)
  • I also used the smallest shapes from the Swirly Scribbles set and die cut some little centres out of my stamped rose images.
  • I die cut 3 sets of green leaves from the 'Flourish' thinlits set. 2 of these I cut down so I had 3 leaves at the top and a small stem. I then cut the last two leaves so that one had a stem and one was just a leaf on it's own. These were added to each page of the card. Please see pics for more detail.
  • I added 3 roses each to the front and the middle of the card using dimensionals, 1 large and 2 small.
  • I die cut the heart & 3 words - the Heart in Sweet Sugarplum, 'Hope' in Whisper White, 'Sunshine' in Sweet Sugarplum & 'LOVE' in Crumb Cake.
  • I layered the words, one on each page of the card. On the last page I placed the heart under the word Love and also stamped some splatters in Sweet Sugarplum.
  • I stamped the sweet little bird in Sweet Sugar Plum onto Crumb Cake and fussy cut around him. Stamping his feet onto the card then adding him by adhering with a dimensional.
  •  To finish it all off I added rhinestones to the center of each flower and tied a piece of Thick Whisper White Bakers Twine around the middle of the card.
  • I added a touch more sparkle by adding \clear Wink of Stella to the lightest part of each rose.

Sweet Pears

Sweet Pears

Using the 'Fresh Fruit' Stamp set

I am creating cards for my MAKE & TAKES which is where I hold a workshop & teach techniques. These workshops are for all stages of this paper craft from beginner to intermediate to those more advanced who just wanting to create without cleaning up after themselves lol

My card creation today has been inspired by two challenges & will be used in one of my workshops coming soon.
The first inspiration was from the Global Design Project  #GDP051 Theme Challenge, the teams theme this week is FOOD

My other inspiration is the challenge from Pals Paper Arts, #PPA316 A sketch Challenge by Patti MacLeith

I chose to create today using the lovely  Pear stamp from the 'Fresh Fruit' Stamp set.I did this because Pears to me, have always mean't friendship & love ...So I looked up what pears symbolize & this is what I found.

"The pear is a symbol of affection in many cultures. In Chinese, the word li means both pear and separation, so it's said that to avoid a separation, friends and lovers should not divide pears between themselves."

'SWEET PEARS'

#Freshfruit #Pears #Affection #KOCreationscards #Handmade #Cherrycobbler #Pearpizzazz #GDP #PPA

I chose to create the pears using Cherry Cobbler & Pear Pizzazz this made them look similar to the pear named Forelle, one of my faves :-)

How I Made Sweet Pears :

  • First I cut my card base from 'Cherry Cobbler' to 16 cm x 11.5 cm.
  • The 'Pear Pizzazz' was cut to 15 cm x 11 cm.
  • On the right of the 'Pear Pizzazz' I cut a square using the 'Layering Square' Framelits. I used the straight edge square (the one that fits inside the largest scalloped edge square)
  • I cut a scalloped edge frame from the Cherry Cobbler card stock by placing the plain square die inside the scalloped edge die, then running through the Big Shot.
  • I also cut a piece of Window Sheet using the same large scalloped edge square.
  • I put all pieces together using Multipurpose liquid glue (Tombow)
  • For the sentiment I added this in Whisper White "We Age Not By Years, But By Stories <3" I glued a small red Heart from the Brights Sequins over the stamped heart image.
  • I gently heated this with my heat tool by directing the heat onto the image stamped on the window sheet for 2-3 seconds at a time, then removing and repeating. I did this until the Craft ink became dry!
  • I added strips of the Foam Adhesive strips cut to length to create a shaker window
  • I added one finished red Pear and some hearts from the Brights Sequins pack.
  • Using the leaves from 'Serene Scenery' DSP I placed this under the shaker window onto the Foam Adhesive completing the shaker.

For the Pears :

  • I dusted the 'Pear Pizzazz' card stock with the embossing buddy.
  • I stamped 4 pears onto the 'Pear Pizzazz' (one of these pears went into the shaker window)
  • I used the outline stamp in versa mark & 'Cherry Cobbler' together, then adding clear Embossing Powder. I heated until all clear with my heat tool.
  • I then using the shading stamp.
  • I then added more depth with the 'Cherry Cobbler' ink pad & clear 'Wink of Stella' together
  • I fussy cut around all pears and the leaves.
  • I placed 3 of pears vertically but slightly off centre to each other onto a delicate White Doily folded to make an oval shape.
  • I placed this onto the reverse of the 'Serene Scenery' cut to 10.5 cm x 6 cm and inked around the edges in 'Cherry Cobbler'
  • 1 Pear went inside the Shaker Window.

Inside :

  • I used a piece of Pear Pizzazz on the inside.
  • Under that I9 placed half a Delicate Doily.
  • I stamped onto this a single pear stamped slightly off the page, using the same steps (Minus the Versa Mark & Embossing) for the Pears above.
  • I cut some small strips into ribbons
  • I added the small sentiment to the Pear Pizzazz strip "P.S my best stories are with you"
  • I adhered all of this using Tear & Tape Adhesive.

Irresistibly Floral

My Irresistibly Floral DSP Card Creation

The theme today is CASEing ...

In am sure most of you understand what CASEing is...For those that don't here is a rough outline

You can either Copy And Selective Edit OR Copy And Share Everything.

I have chose to Copy & Selective Edit.
This is my favourite way to CASE. As it gives you a base to work with and lets you create a card all of your own.
Today's CASE inspirations came from Jessie Holton's new CHALLENGE site and her very first challenge is this gorgeous creation! #CTC001

#CTC001

The other inspiration came from this sketch challenge from CasethisSketch & their sketch this week is this lovely design.

#CTS188

I don't actually own the Falling Flowers stamp set which is what has been used in Jessie Holton's Card BUT I had purchased the thoroughly divine 'Irresistible Floral DSP' collection.
I knew I could work with that & Jessie had used the same DSP on her card too. I also chose to use the same colour scheme as Jessie.

Here is my card

IRRESISTIBLY FLORAL

#IrresistiblyfloralDSP #KOCreationscards #Fussycutting #Resistembosstechnique #Windowsheet #Handmade

  • I started with Flirty Flamingo as my card base cut to 10.5 cm x 15 cm.
  • I then cut a piece of Acetate Window Sheet to 10.5 x 18 cm. I folded that at 15 cm this will leave a 3 cm piece to attach to the card base.
  • I  cut the front of the card base in half at 7.5 cm
  • The loose 7.5 cm piece  I then cut in half again making 2 thinner strips.
  • I joined the window sheet to the front of the card using 'Tear & Tape' and a small amount of glue to the outside of the 3 cm Acetate window flap and pressing that to the top inside of the card base.
  • I added Tear & Tape to the inside on front 7.5 cm 'Flirty Flamingo' card base to secure this to the Acetate window.
  • I took 1 of the 2 thin strips of 'Flirty Flamingo' and adhered that to the bottom of the Acetate Window Sheet in the same manner as previously mentioned.

  • For the front and the inside section I cut 1 strip off the 'Falling Flowers' sheet from the 'Irresistibly Floral DSP' collection to 10 cm x 16 cm
  • I cut this strip into 3 sections
1 x 7 cm
  1 x 5.5 cm
  1 x 3.5 cm
  • I coloured these blending the 'Pool Party' & 'So Saffron' ink pads using 'Stamping Sponges'.
  • Once blended the way I desired, I used my Paper-Piercing tool and a ruler to make a false stitch line placing a mark every 2 mm.
  • I then used my 'Pool Party' Stampin' Write marker to add extra colour for the stitches.
  • I fussy cut some of the flowers from the same sheet of  DSP and coloured those with the sponges & ink then arranged them accordingly.
  • I cut a small piece of 'Bermuda Bay' Sequin Trim and added that to my flower arrangement.
  • I added enamel shapes in Peekaboo Peach to the fussy cut flower centres.

Enamel Shapes are part of this weeks 'Promotion' at top of the page.

  • Using thick bakers twine in 'Whisper White' to edge the window sheet and the inside sponged DSP.
  • Using A piece of 'Bermuda Bay' card stock I stamped in 'Whisper White' the sentiment from the Gift of Love stamp set.
  • I cut this in half to create two thin strips and then trimmed one end to a point.

The 'GIFT OF LOVE' stamp set is only available as a hostess gift to those who host a party or work shop either online or in home. If you are interested in hosting your own feel free to contact me.

Blending Correctly

  • To get a smooth blend using Stampin' Sponges & ink pads, I cut my round Stampin' Sponges down into 8 small wedges!
  • I first press the chosen colour ink onto the stamp lid then holding the piece of sponge & pinching the sponge just above the widest end, wipe the ink in the lid all around it. Vigorously!
  • I then dab the ink back onto the lid once or twice even three times, this helps to remove & spread evenly any large splotches that may have gathered.
  • Always practice on a scrap piece first before starting on your project!
  • Always use a scratch paper under your work, so you can work from the outside of your paper in a circling motion, moving inwards.
  • DO NOT rub backwards & forwards!
  • ALWAYS apply your ink from the sponge to paper in a circular motion, moving from the off the paper, onto the outside of your work, slowly reaching the centre.
  • Reapply in this manner until the depth of colour that you require is achieved!
Happy Blending!
